What were you hoping to shift in your life while working with Ruth?
Honestly, I didn’t really expect much in that manner. Working with Ruth, I had problems with cramping for a long time due to tennis itself and I didn’t really have a positive outlook on finding a solution.
So I wasn’t really adamant on there being a positive result in anything because I had this negative framework and even before, because I really haven’t had any opportunity to fix my body in any type of way.
Just going in, I was just a little bit hesitant just because I’ve done so much in years past, done blood work, drawn, done all these different stuff and nothing worked.
What had you tried before & how was Ruth’s work different?
As I mentioned before, I had cramping issues in the past and a lot of times, I thought it was due to sweating too much, or maybe it was because I was not getting the right electrolytes inside my body. Maybe it was because I had a gluten allergy.
So I did a lot of stuff. I had blood work drawn. I met with a lot of doctors, I had allergy tests taken. I also tried a gluten free, non gluten diet as well because I thought that was an issue.
The opportunities of trying to find a solution where endless, I felt like, and I was a little bit, not very optimistic from the start.
What did you learn about yourself from working with Ruth?
By working with Ruth, Ruth really changed my perspective on my body and mind connection. I really didn’t think about that significantly or focus on that beforehand.
I thought it was just some other outside issue, whether that be, you know, electro electrolytes or maybe it was because I was sweating too much or maybe I had a bad diet, but I really didn’t understand how my mind could really affect my body.
That’s something that she really instilled into my brain, that I need to be better to myself. I need to kind of like, take it easy, take a deep breath sometimes, take it easy and treat my body with that positive framework that I didn’t give it beforehand.
How is your life/sport/body different now?
By working with ruth, she really changed the way I think about how I treat myself and how I treat my body both mentally as well as physically. I think beforehand I was just as I said before, not very self conscious about this concept, I didn’t really understand that there was like a tie or bind between the mind in the body itself.
Because of what she what she said when she told me I try to take care of my body the best I can. I try to have this like good relationship with both ends and you know, even if I’m stressed out whether that be like on court or off the court, I try to kind of take a deep breath and kind of self evaluate how I could kind of be better for myself and for my body because I know that whatever I put into my head will affect my entire temple.
So that’s that’s really what she instilled into me and that took a lot of time because beforehand I was just very aggressive and not very nice to myself.
Would you recommend coaching with Ruth? Why?
Oh, I would absolutely recommend coaching with Ruth. She’s not only very knowledgeable, which is very important, but especially in this world because I feel like a lot of doctors say some things or a lot of therapists or whatever say a lot of things that they don’t really understand, but Ruth really understands and she always gives a reason as to why she does something and not only that, but she’s just a great person in general.
You know, you don’t find that many people that are good in this world. So I’ll be able to talk to Ruth on a consistent basis with an actual genuine good person really makes it easy to be open and honest.
